Are you considering cloth diapers?

Here is a run down of everything you may need:

24 to 36 diapers.

0 to 3 all-in-one diapers. This depends on your personal preference. 

4 to 6 cloth diaper covers.

1 or 2 fleece or wool covers for overnight. We personally recommend the Hemp inserts!

12 to 24 doublers. (You will need more if your child is a heavy wetter)

1 diaper pail.

2 to 3 dozen diaper wipes.

This may seem like a lot to purchase. In the long run, you will be saving thousands of dollars in the long run by using a reusable diapering system.

Cloth Diapers: What do you need to get started?

We get this question all the time. Navigating the world of cloth diapers online can be a bit overwhelming. 

What do you need to get started?

• You will need 6-16 diapers per day for your baby. Toddlers will need 6-10 diapers per day. Newborns & young babies will need 12-16 diapers per day.
• Don’t forget that you will need at least 2 additional diapers to allow for washing time.
• You will need at least 4-6 covers in each size. A newborn or a young baby many need more than 6 covers.
• Newborns do not generally require inserts, unless you have an early heavy wetter, but as babies get bigger, you may need to invest into some good quality inserts or use prefolds as inserts in your diapers.
• You will also need something to collect used diapers until you are ready to wash, you can use a diaper pail bag that can be found in cloth diaper accessories.

One of our favorite new brands is Aden & Anais. They have started The Swaddle of Love Foundation.

The foundation’s mission is to provide babies with the basic of human connections – touch. Orphaned babies become conditioned not to cry, even when left alone for 17 hours a day, simply because they know no one is coming. 

Research shows touch deprivation in infants is attributed to many emotional and physical disorders, including brain defects, anxiety and depression to name a few. 

Our goal is to eliminate touch deprivation in orphaned babies across the world. 

Just $100 a month is enough to employ one local woman to help nurture these orphaned babies, so even the smallest amount matters.
